gULP is our own design filtration system oriented on an Ultra Low Power ethos. In other words, you can use low power consumption high volume pumps that lack head (pressure capacity) on gULP (high pressure pumps will work as well!). gULP is installed either as a gravity fed system with water being fed by gravity from the pond (and pumped back to the pond), or a gravity return system where water is pumped to the filters and gravity returned back to the pond. This design ethos requires large diameter piping (typically 110mm) to allow for water flowrates of between 2 to 10kl/hr. gULPs are ideally configured in pairs – the first stage being a mechanical filter and the second biological. Both require an airpump to deliver a minimum of 40l/min of air to a gULP. In the case of the Biological gULP the air runs continuously to agitate a SuperActiFlo moving bed, or in the case of the Mechanical gULP only for a few minutes a few times a week when backwashing. Hence one air pump can fulfill both roles. Stand not included.
